Eliminate Moisture Problems
Moisture Fix 1™ – is blue in colour and has been formulated to provide the installer the most cost-effective method to eliminate the risks and problems associated with subfloor moisture problems.
Moisture Fix 1™ is a single pack ready to use (no mixing) deeply penetrating, safe, odourless easy to apply liquid that allows early site access (foot traffic in 1 hour) and in most cases ready to accept floor prep and coverings in 24 hours. Conforms to the moisture suppressant requirements as per NZAS1884-2013
Moisture-Fix has all the characteristics of Densi-Proof except that it cannot he high pressure airless sprayed. In other words it is designed for either pour on and spread with a soft broom, or apply with a low pressure, non atomising, pump type sprayer such as a Solo 475 or Chapin spray unit.
Moisture-Fix can be used as a cure medium for new concrete, moisture control for floor coverings, paint and coatings, or protection for concrete from the effects of carbonation and contaminants
When applied to new concrete, floor coverings paint and coatings can be applied after 14 days without risk of damage from construction moisture.
On existing set concrete that still has too high a moisture content for coverings and coatings, Moisture-Fix can be applied at any time. Coverings can normally be applied 24 Hrs afer the Moisture-Fix has been absorbed.
On older concrete Moisture-Fix will purge out contaminants. If purging the concrete in the main reason for using Moisture-Fix then discuss the process with your distributer or call us direct.
On floors that are many years old, if the moisture content is over say 85% RH it is possible that there are other issues with the concrete such as broken pipes. Please call us and discuss.
Moisture-fix also forms the perfect base for the later application of X300 Surface Repeller or X400 Luster Shield.
How to apply:
Pour and spread 4.0m2 per litre
Low pressure spray 4.5m2 per litre
For purging or old porous concrete application rates may require more product. Contact us for advice
Application can be by pour and spread or by low pressure spray (pump up knapsack type) it is important that the product is distributed evenly by continuous working by soft broom in all directions to ensure the product is presented to all surface profiles. There is no need to put any pressure on the broom as it is only used to distribute the product evenly and if pressure is applied it tends to have the opposite effect in not leaving enough material on the surface.
Allow material to penetrate (drop into) the surface and if you find that after an hour, that some areas have totally dropped and some not, then distribute the excess product over the dry areas. Please note, on occasions, the concrete may be of poor quality and be very porous, which may require additional product to ensure that there is enough product to complete the capillary chemical gel forming reaction. Using a soft broom, sweep and spread out puddled product as it penetrates. Do not allow product to puddle dry on the surface. If product gels on the surface remove with a squeegee.
How to use as a cure:
Apply with a low-pressure non-atomizing, spray apparatus such as a pump-tank sprayer or airless set at less than 800psi (do not atomise as spray drift will be considerable) or pour directly on to the slab surface. It is important that the product is distributed evenly by continuous working by soft broom in all directions to ensure the product is presented to all surface profiles. There is no need to put any pressure on the broom as it is only used to distribute the product evenly and if pressure is applied it tends to have the opposite effect in not leaving enough material on the surface.
Allow material to penetrate (drop in) the surface and if you find that after an hour, that some areas have totally dropped and some not, then distribute the excess product over the dry areas. For optimum cure benefits it is ideally applied to the concrete surface as soon as is practical following its surface finishing phase. Should conditions require the surface to be walked on, for application, concrete should be allowed the time to adequately set, so as not to imprint or mar its surface during application. Recommended minimum coverage rate as a cure method is 4.0m2 per litre if applied by pour and spread, or 4.5m2 per litre if spray applied.
Other important notes:
- Any coatings that may restrict access to the concrete’s interior must be chemically or mechanically removed for Moisture-Fix® to penetrate.
- Protect areas not intended for coverage.
- Moisture-Fix® may etch glass or dull shiny aluminium and can be difficult to remove from other surfaces once it dries.
- Do not apply on frozen substrate or when temperature is below 3degrees and getting colder.
- Moisture-Fix®’s spray mist is not hazardous to breathe. However, we do recommend the use of a face mask during application. Refer to MSDS.
- Restrict access to areas being treated as surface may be slippery until all product has dropped in or removed from surface.
- Do not apply by dipping broom or brush directly into the pail as this will contaminate the product. Only pour and spread. Do not roller apply.
